MercyMe New Song ‘Then Christ Came’ Mp3, Lyrics

MercyMe, the GRAMMY®-nominated band, has released “Then Christ Came,” their much anticipated new single. The award-winning band debuted the new song with an official lyric video across all streaming platforms.

“Then Christ Came,” a two-year project, was initially scheduled for MercyMe’s tenth studio album, inhale (exhale). However, vocalist Bart Millard and co-writer David Leonard were unable to complete the song on time. Despite this, the band put a brief, incomplete version of the chorus on their most recent album, understanding that it was already a great tune. Millard just reworked the lyrics and completed the song alongside Jason Ingram and Phil Wickham.

Lyrics:

Like a soldier with no armor
In the middle of the battle
I was broken
I was broken
It was only getting darker
In the valley of the shadow
I was hopeless
I was hopeless

I never thought that I would ever see the day
When every single chain would break
Or hear the voice of heaven call my name

Then Christ came
Changing everything
He took my sin and shame away
Now every song
I sing will be for Him
Ever since the moment He walked in
Then Christ came

I was searching for a reason
To believe that I could ever really matter
Ever matter
I was hoping, I was reaching
So desperate for my soul to find its Savior
I need a savior

Then Christ came
Changing everything
He took my sin and shame away
Now every song
I sing will be for Him
Ever since the moment He walked in
Then Christ came

You are the one I prayed for
You are the one I was made for
Hallelujah
Jesus You gave me purpose
Jesus You told me I’m worth it
Hallelujah

I never thought that I would ever see the day
When every single chain would break
Or hear the voice of heaven call my name

Then Christ came
Changing everything
He took my sin and shame away
Now every song
I sing will be for Him
Ever since the moment He walked in

You are the one I prayed for
You are the one I was made for
Hallelujah
Jesus You gave me purpose
Jesus You told me I’m worth it
Hallelujah

Then Christ came
